Brown Recluse Spiders

Brown Recluse spiders can be quite aggressive when provoked and are one of the most venomous spiders in the United States. The adults can have ¼”- ¾” size bodies. They are brownish in color with a dark violin shape mark. Where most spiders have 8 eyes, the brown recluse spiders have 3 sets of, equaling 6 eyes; one pair in the front, and another pair on both sides. If you or a loved one was bit by a brown recluse spider, seek medical attention to relieve the symptoms until the poison has past. Texas recluse spider is closely related to the brown recluse spider. The Texas recluse spiders prefer living outdoors. They look very similar to the brown recluse spider as well.

Black Widow Spiders

Their venom causes a great deal of pain, and if bitten, the victim should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Black widows are approximately ½” long. The females, which are venomous, are shiny, black, and carry a red hour glass shaped mark. Sometimes these marls can be yellow or orange.

Common House Spiders

Common house spiders look similar to the brown widow spider but are normally nonaggressive and even described as shy. They will bite if they feel like threatened and though their bite is painful it is not venomous. These spiders have no aversions to live in close proximity with humans.
