– Pest Proof & Store Food Properly: Cockroaches aren’t picky eaters. They will eat food that is both fresh and rotting. You should always store food properly in containers that won’t allow cockroaches to get to them. Avoid keeping food out on the counter and on the table.
– Fix Leaking Pipes: The third thing that cockroaches need is water. This is why they are often a problem near kitchen sinks and bathrooms. If there is a dripping faucet, you will want to fix that and other sources of excessive water so that you avoid a cockroach problem.
– Tidy Up to Remove Pest Harborage: Cockroaches aren’t active in the daylight hours. This means that they need somewhere to hide out until the sun goes down. If your home is cluttered, they will be finding many places to do so. Make sure you get rid of boxes that aren’t necessary, cluttered countertops and other areas that could be problematic.
– Take Out the Trash: Like mentioned above, cockroaches don’t mind eating rotting food. If you aren’t taking out your trash on a regular basis and storing it properly, they will find a way to get to it and stay active this winter.
